2009 Triumph Tiger Special Edition

Triumph has transformed its popular Tiger adventure-sport model with the unveiling of a striking new special edition at the INTERMOT motorcycle show, held in Cologne, Germany.

Taking the ABS version of the Tiger as its base, the SE features a distinctive new Matt Graphite and Matt Black colour scheme. Priced in the region of £9,000 OTR this new flagship to the Tiger family has even more versatility thanks to the addition of colour-matched panniers (with a combined capacity of 44 litres) and handguards as standard.

The two-tone colour scheme enhances the standard Tiger’s looks with an air of classic British sophistication and was inspired by one of Triumph’s company employee benefits: being able to specify a bike with non-standard colours. As Simon Warburton, Triumph’s Product Manager, explains, “Some of the design team were trying out different bodywork colours and while changing panels over they noticed that the combination of Matt Black and Matt Graphite worked really well. From this we developed the unique two-tone scheme that you see, which expresses the individuality of the special edition model perfectly.”

First introduced in 1994 as a versatile dual-purpose machine, the Tiger has evolved into the complete all-rounder that can tour, commute and scratch in equal measures. The Tiger’s commanding off-road style upright riding position is perfect for cutting through the urban jungle, devouring motorway miles and carving through challenging mountain passes.

The latest incarnation of the Tiger is powered by Triumph’s highly-acclaimed 1050cc three-cylinder engine, delivering peak power of 115PS (113bhp) at 9,400rpm and 100Nm (74ft.lbf) torque at 6,250rpm. Adjustable sports suspension and 120 front/180 rear sports tyres combined with powerful radial front caliper Nissin brakes endow the Tiger with the agility, handling and braking to let you fully exploit the potent triple. The 20 litre fuel tank provides a realistic 200 mile (320km) range, adding to the Tiger’s practicality and touring ability.

The Tiger SE will be produced in limited numbers and will be in official Triumph dealerships from Spring 2009.

The standard Tiger remains unchanged and continues to be available with or without ABS, in three colour options for 2009: Fusion White, Jet Black and Blazing Orange

2009 Triumph Tiger

Take one look and it's clear the Tiger is built to perform in more ways than one. It will scratch, tour and commute. Powered by a torquey 1050cc triple cyllineder engine with an infectious sound and feel, it boasts the performance specification of a sports bike: braced swing arm, fully adjustable Showa USD forks, remote spring preload and rebound damping adjustable Showa rear monoshock, twin floating front discs with 4 piston radial callipers and 17 inch wheels with 120/180 profile sports tyres.

Usability has always been a key benefit of all Triumph motorcycles and the Tiger retains this no matter what type of journey. There's no journey too demanding.

A commanding view from the upright riding position makes overtaking and filtering easy through rush hour traffic. The muscular triple with powerful brakes and sporty chassis make carving through the twisties a real pleasure. And for the long haul the ergonomically designed seat with screen and fairingensures comfort and control regardless of distance. A 20 litre fuel tank and optional ABS add to the practicality.

The Tiger’s engine delivers power and ear to ear grins. The amazing 1050cc, fuel-injected, three cylinder engine, known for its addictive character, has plenty of torque and impressive amounts of horsepower, with ample reserves of both for those two-up fully laden tours. Peak power of 113bhp is delivered at 9400rpm, with 74ft.lb torque at 6250rpm.

This unobtrusive system retains all the sensations of riding, operating at 100 calculations per second to sense the precise moment the wheel is about to lock up, then preventing it from doing so. The system has been specifically tailored to the Tiger, with painstaking calibration over many months to ensure optimum braking performance.

Triumph 2009 Triumph Street Triple R Media/Press Release(s):

2009 Street Triple R

Following on from the phenomenally successful Street Triple, Triumph is
introducing a new, higher-specification version for 2009 – the Street Triple R.
With the Street Triple already regarded as the class-leading middleweight
streetfighter, the ‘R’ version takes the standard bike and adds race track
technology. Fully-adjustable 41mm upside down forks and a top-spec rear
monoshock unit with piggy back reservoir deliver sublime handling, while radiallymounted
four piston calipers grab the twin 308mm brake discs and ensure the
Street Triple R stops as well as it goes.

At the heart of Street Triple R is the Street Triple’s highly-acclaimed fuel-injected
675cc three-cylinder unit, producing 108PS at 11,700rpm, while its fully
adjustable sports suspension and powerful four-piston radial brakes are derived
from the award-winning, 2008 Daytona 675. The new Street Triple R has been
designed to rival traditional supersport machines with its superlative handling and
stunning stopping power, while offering the comfort and attitude of a
streetfighter. The sporty feel is completed with wide, tapered aluminium
handlebars from Magura and a 5mm taller seat height that puts the Street Triple
R rider in the perfect position to attack the twisty stuff or cut its way through the
urban jungle.

Completing the Street Triple R’s distinctive look are two all-new exclusive colour
schemes: Matt Graphite with orange graphics and Matt Blazing Orange with grey
graphics (the latter will be available from January 2009). Both colour options are
further enhanced by black anodised forks and a two-tone black and graphite seat.
The new Street Triple R will be available in September and priced at £6,099

2009 Triumph Daytona 675

Since launching as the first three cylinder bike into the highly competitive supersports bike category, the Daytona 675 has made a lasting impression.

The combination of the lightest frame in class and narrow three cylinder engine has always given the handling, agility and intuitive feel that sets the Daytona apart.

The 2009 Daytona improves on this still further with new fully adjustable front and rear suspension, both of which allow the rider to adjust high and low speed damping separately.

There’s further evidence of our ongoing performance focus with increased power output, now up to 128PS peak, plus a 2 kg reduction in overall weight. Even the rear wheel has been lightened to reduce weight and inertia for quicker acceleration and improved suspension performance.

Add to this new front brake monobloc radial callipers and radial master cylinder that deliver track bred stopping power. For 2009 the engine management system has been calibrated to accept our new accessory quick-shifter. No mess, no fuss just bolt it on and plug it in. All this clearly shows how on track development time has significantly contributed to the new Daytona 675.

As winner of the demanding Masterbike in ‘06 and ‘07 and the Supertest ‘King of the Supersport’ crown for three years running, the Daytona has already proven to be an unbeatable combination of inspiration and engineering on road and track.

The new 2009 Daytona 675 raises the bar once again.

Features & Benefits

Engine
Triumph's R&D department has taken an evolutionary approach with the 2009 Daytona, using experience gained from racing in the Supersport World Championship to develop the new machine. The latest specification 675cc three-cylinder engine revs to a 13,950rpm redline and pumps out a mighty 128PS.

Frame
The Daytona 675’s aluminium frame is fabricated with open-back cast spars which wrap over the top of the motor, accentuating the benefits of the narrow three-cylinder design. The lightest frame in its class, it weighs in at a mere 8.7Kg.

Suspension
The fully-adjustable 41mm upside down forks and rear monoshock unit both benefit from highly sophisticated high and low speed damping control, allowing riders to set their Daytona up with maximum accuracy. This track-bred suspension gives razor sharp handling and can be tuned by the rider to suit their own style.

Instruments
The Daytona 675’s digital instrument console has all the usual trip functions as well as displaying average fuel economy. Also featured is a sophisticated lap timer – useful for comparing successive lap times on a circuit as well as average and maximum speed for each lap.

Brakes
New radial-mount Nissin monobloc brakes are mounted to twin 308mm discs for stunning levels of stopping power and rider feedback.
